Complexes of 2-Amino-3-methylpyridine and 2-Amino-4-methylbenzothiazole with Ag(I) and Cu(II): Structure and Biological Applications

Coordination complexes (1–4) of 2-amino-4-methylbenzothiazole and 2-amino-3-methylpyridine with Cu(CH3COO)2 AgNO3 were prepared characterized by UV/Vis FT-IR spectroscopy. The molecular structure for single crystals silver (2 4) determined X-ray diffraction. coordination complex (2) is monoclinic space group P21/c, wherein two ligands are coordinated to a metal ion, affording distorted trigonal geometry around the central Ag ion. efficient nucleophilic center, i.e., endocyclic nitrogen organic ligand, binds metal. Ligands adopt cis arrangement, predominantly due steric reasons. O(2) O(3) atoms NO3− further play an important role in such type ligand arrangement hydrogen bonding NH2 ligands. Complex (4) orthorhombic, P212121, comprising molecules as polymeric structure. behavior identical that 2, ring center bridged another ion through group. resulting product nature backbone bridge. Compounds (2–4) found be luminescent, while 1 did not show activity. All compounds screened their preliminary biological activities antibacterial, antioxidant enzyme inhibition. exhibited moderate activity these tests.
